Opal Klingman, 88, Kokomo, passed away Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at Windsor Estates
Nursing Home in Kokomo. Born on April 25, 1920, in Tippecanoe County, she was the
daughter of John L. and Mamie (Lawson) Hengst. On July 16, 1938, in Mulberry, she
married Owen R. Klingman, who preceded her in death on Dec. 7, 2004.
She was a secretary for Kokomo Roofing and Mays Roofing, retiring in 1985. She was a
seamstress and enjoyed quilting and traveling.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Arthur Richey, Logansport;
grandson, Anthony O. Kolby, Kokomo; granddaughter, Beth A. and John W. McCord,
Yorktown; great-grandchildren, Treigh O. Rush, Katherine L. McCord and Emma M.
McCord.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Owen; a brother; and a sister.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Galveston Cemetery, with the Rev.
Warren Purcell. Burial will follow. No public visitation is planned
