Welcome to the memorial page for

Bessie Marie (Beck) Zeck McCoy

February 5, 1941 ~ April 2, 2017 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Bessie Marie (Beck) Zeck-McCoy

Bessie Zeck-McCoy, 76,  was called Home on April 2, 2017 surrounded by her family.  Grandma Bessie, as she was known by many, was married to James McCoy for the past 16 years.  Her legacy started the day she was born on Feb 5, 1941 to Virgil and Ruby Beck.  Her family tree started branching out with the addition of 3 children; Rod Zeck (Angie), Dawn Pullen (Kevin) and Ryan Zeck (Andrea), in addition to 2 step-children Jim McCoy (Marilyn) and Julie (Jim) Mitchell.  Also surviving are brothers Joe Beck (friend Shirley Finney), Norm (Jane) Beck, and sisters-in-law Katie Beck, Deb Hancock and Patty Bauer.  The family tree continued growing with several grandchildren: Kristin Zeck, Colton (Laura) Zeck, Kensi (Travis) Yoakum, Kassi Zeck, Conner and Caden Zeck, Kyle (Lynsee) Pullen, Derek (Taylor) Pullen, Delaney and Maryn Zeck, Greg (Megan) McCoy, Eric (Ashley) McCoy, Katie Mitchell, Tyler, and Brenton Gaumer.  The branches continue with 8 great-grandchildren including Karrington and Lakelyn Lund, Cohen Zeck-Wright, Crew Yoakum, Kashton and Kodee Pullen and 2 more arriving soon.  The family tree continues with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Proceeding Grandma Bessie in death include her parents, brothers Bill, Charles and Gene Beck, and one grandson Owen Zeck.

Bessie graduated from Young America High School in 1959 and Weddington Beauty School in 1960.  Throughout her busy life, she fulfilled many roles including homemaker, beautician, school bus driver, musician, farmer, and was a get-it-done lady.  Grandma Bessie will leave a large void as she was involved in several different organizations from the Upper Deer Creek Church bazaar to the Young America Alumni.  She also played the organ and piano for several churches and events.  She enjoyed spending time with her family most of all, but also liked crafting, quilting and ceramics.  She should have pursued a patent on her locally-famous toffee candy.  She epitomized the statement that if you want something done, give it to a busy person.

Grandma Bessie had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  While her 76 years were not always easy, she knew God would never give her more than she could handle.  Bessie knew God was in control and took comfort knowing Heaven was and is her forever Home.   Her wish would be that everyone she knew and loved would have this same relationship with Jesus and the blessed assurance of a heavenly home for all eternity.  Her legacy will continue to live on through the lives of her family.  Grandma Bessie loved her family, cherished her friendships, and believed that there is beauty all around when there is Love at Home.

Visitation for Grandma Bessie will be held at Upper Deer Creek Church (5019 East 1400 South Galveston) on Tuesday, April 4th 2017, from 2-8 pm.   Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 5th, 2017 at 1:30 pm at Upper Deer Creek with  Pastor John Rhodes officiating, burial following at Center UMC.  Personal friends of the family Chris Weaver of Murray Weaver Funeral Home and Jeff Stout of Stout & Son Funeral Home are handling the arrangements.  The Zeck family wishes to express their thanks for the many prayers and well-wishes during Mom’s illness.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Kidney Fund, 111921 Rockville Pike, Suite 300, Rockville, MD  20852 or Great Lakes Hospice , 2751 Albright Road, Kokomo, IN  46902.  You may leave a condolence to the family at www.murrayweaver.com or www.stoutandson.com
