Betty Jo (Gregory) Moreland

November 26, 1932 ~ March 17, 2017 (age 84) 84 Years Old

Betty Jo Moreland, 84, of Miami, passed away at 3:00 a.m. Friday, March 17th at St. Vincent hospital in Kokomo.  She was born November 26, 1932 in Morehead, KY to Morton and Ithel Audra (Debord) Gregory.  She first married S.V. Hamby November of 1949 in New Castle, Indiana.  He later preceded her in death and she married James Moreland on July 30, 1956 in Moreland, IN.  James also preceded her in death June 6, 2014.

Betty was a homemaker and enjoyed refinishing wood furniture, crafts, and raising her children.  She attended Trinity Wesleyan Church in Kokomo.

Surviving family include her children, Calandra (Larry) Scott, Logansport, IN; Beth Riggle, Galveston, IN; Kirt Hamby, Bringhurst, IN; David Hamby, Miami, IN; and Joseph (Vickie) Moreland, Pathfork, KY; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She is also survived by siblings, Harold (Wanda) Gregory, New Castle, IN; Cristine Hall, New Castle, IN and Ramona (Gary) Patrick, Greenfield, IN.   She was preceded in death by her parents, first and second husbands, two sons, Robert and James Moreland, step daughter, Jimmy Pauline Moreland, a very precious great granddaughter, Ellie Rae Marie, and a daughter-in-law, Cindy Hamby and brother, Morton Gregory Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 27th at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Rev. Bill Meiring officiating.  Burial will follow at Springdale Cemetery in Bunker Hill with pallbearers, Harold Gregory, Joe Gilbert, Cory Kotkoski, Brad Oldfather, David Hamby, Bill Meiring and James Carpenter.  Visitation will be held from 3 – 6 p.m. Sunday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.  The family wishes to send a special “Thank You” to her caregivers at St. Vincent Hospice, Deb Morgan, Michelle Reeve, Julie Maggard, Mindy Hulupa and Lisa Fulton.  Also a special thank you to Trinity Wesleyan Church, and Derick Steele and assistant Kim at the law offices of  Raquet, Vandenbosch and Steele.  Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston have been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
