Bobby D. Caldwell, 86, of Deer Creek, went home to be with the Lord at 5:15 a.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi. He was born July 21, 1931 in Logansport to Glay and Mamie (Davis) Caldwell. He married the love of his life, Kathrynn R. Featherstone on February 27, 1955. She preceded him in death June 27, 2014.
Bobby was a lifelong farmer in Deer Creek. He was also a machinist and retired from Matthew Warren Spring in 2008. He was a member of Deer Creek Presbyterian Church in Deer Creek and enjoyed airplanes, building model airplanes, bird watching, and hot air ballooning, big band music and attending air shows. His family was his life. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving family include his children, David B. (Carla) Caldwell, Dewitt, MI, Kathy (Joe) Elery, Lebanon, IN; and Patricia K. Cunnningham, Delphi. IN; He is also survived by six grandchildren, Gabriel and Evan Caldwell, Chelsey Elery, Emily (Dustin) Green, Quincy (Ann) Cunningham and Abby Cunningham. Five great grandchildren also survive him along with a sister, Beverly Hess of Logansport. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife Kathrynn, infant brother, James, son-in-law, David Cunningham and a great grandson Jacoby.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, February 8th at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Harry Roselle officiating. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery, Young America. Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Deer Creek Presbyterian Church, St. Elizabeth Heathcare Resident Fund, Delphi, IN; or the American Lung Association.
