Craig “Shane” Hulsey, 57, of Kokomo passed away at his home early Wednesday morning after a courageous battle with cancer.  Shane was born July 28, 1960 in Lake Charles, LA to Bobby and Gerda (Reidelshiemer) Hulsey.  He married Eva McGinnis on October 10, 1986 and she survives.

Shane worked as an HVAC technician for Fortune Management for many years.  He will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman, a handy man, and a great family man.  He was a loving husband to Eva, a caring father to Shana and Craig, and a wonderful grandfather to Kylie, Liam Payton and Henry.  His passions include crappie and walleye fishing, deer hunting, mushroom hunting and arrowhead hunting.   In the words of a dear friend, “Shane was a man among men.  He taught many to live life to its fullest in everything they did.  He gave to those in need anything he could, even when he had little for himself.  His attitude and demeanor were second to none.  His devotion to his family was never wavering.  His accomplishments as an outdoorsman were unparalleled.  He had a commitment to teach the next generation “outdoor” skills, in a moral and humane manner.  He was an inspiration to so many, even in life’s worst tragedies.  He always looked forward to tomorrow and wanted to instill traditions that would carry on for generations.”  Shane served his country in the US Army.

Surviving family include his loving wife, Eva Hulsey, Kokomo; his children, Shana Afftan Hulsey and Craig Shane (Alison Lynn) Hulsey II; his grandchildren, Kylie Jo Yard, Liam Shane Wyrick, Payton Olivia Hulsey and Henry Hunter Hulsey all of Kokomo.  Also surviving are siblings, Scarlet Hulsey, Kokomo; Tommy Hulsey, Logansport, Bobby Hulsey Jr., Mississippi, Shannon Saylors, Indianapolis; and Danielle Saylors – Binder, Kokomo  his Step Mother, Vel Hulsey of South Carolina; and his special little dog and loving companion, Maggie Mae.   He was preceded in death by his parents and Step Father, Dan J.
