Howard L. “Jiggs” Wolf, 91, of Young America, Indiana, passed away at 5:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at his home.  He was born June 23, 1925 in Logansport to William H. and Lucille D. (Brickel) Wolf.   He married Mary Lou Daggett on November 5, 1948 in Young America and she survives.

Jiggs owned and operated Wolf Mack Trucks, proudly continuing the business his father founded. Jiggs never met a stranger and couldn't go to town without seeing a friend at every stop. He loved watching sports, especially basketball and enjoyed being outside. If it was warm and sunny, he would always be found on his tractor. Teaching his grandsons his expert shooting techniques never failed to bring a smile to his face.  He looked forward to driving around the country, seeing places he'd never been. Many of these trips he and his wife brought their grandsons to share in their adventures.

Jiggs served his country as a Marine in WW2. He was on Iwo Jima, famous for the flag raising immortalized in many photos, with the 5th Marine Division, 2nd Battalion, 28th Regiment and also in mainland Japan in Hiroshima and Nagasaki among many other places. He was proud of his service and recounted the brave actions of his fellow service members in many documentaries and during the annual Iwo Jima reunions he attended. The Marine Corps was ingrained deeply with him. Once a Marine, Always a Marine.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Wolf, daughter, Nancy (Dan) Skiles, of Young America, son, Chris Wolf, Galveston,  grandsons, Lucas (Lindsey) Skiles and Casey (Ashleigh) Skiles all of Young America.  Also surviving are his great grandchildren, Justice, Kale, Brody and Leighton Skiles.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents who were very dear to him, his parents and one sister Vivian Alice Rozzi.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Murray Weaver Funeral Home, 401 S. California St. in Galveston with Rev. John Rhodes officiating.  Burial will follow at Young America Cemetery with Military Honors.  Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 pm Saturday, Oct. 22nd at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.  A special "Thank You" to Dr. Melanie Bozard MD for her excellent care of Jiggs.  Leave a message of condolence for his family at www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
