Jerry L. Wilson, 82, of Galveston, went home to be with the Lord early Monday morning at his home in Galveston.  He was born March 3, 1935 in Muncie to Carlton and Gracie (Sanders) Wilson.  He married Sandra L. Gray on October 17, 1959 in Muncie.  She preceded him in death on March 23, 2015.

Jerry was an engineering technician for Delco Electronics for 35 years, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed spending time with his family including his children and several nieces and nephews. He loved serving at his church for over 50 years, working with wood and on cars, taking walks in nature, bicycling and he especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Galveston.

Surviving family include his four daughters, Gale Wilson, Galveston; Linda Wilson, Kokomo; Kathy Wilson, Peru; and Melissa and husband Dwayne Sawyer, Brownsburg.  He is also survived by his three grandchildren, Cassandra, Grace and Garrett Sawyer.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Sandra and siblings, Betty Lou Adams, Patricia Collins, Donna Starbuck, Aura Rogers, Bill Wilson, Dora Hiatt and Mayme Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, November 4th at the First Baptist Church of Galveston with Pastor Sean Cooper and Jason Humiston officiating.  Burial will follow at Galveston Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until time of services Saturday at First Baptist Church in Galveston.  Memorial contributions may also be given to First Baptist Church of Galveston in Jerry’s name.  Online condolences may be sent to his family at www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
