LaWana R. Ballenger, 87, of Kokomo, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at her home.  She was born December 31, 1929 in Richmond, Indiana to Everett and Edna (Evans) Pickett.   She married  William R. Ballenger November 4, 1950 in Kokomo.  He preceded her in death December 12, 1996.

LaWana retired from Delco Electronics with several years’ service.  Prior to Delco she also worked for Haynes International.   She was a member of the Judson Road Christian Church.  She enjoyed counted cross stich.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Kim Ballenger of Kokomo.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Rev. Randy Blankenship officiating.  Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens in Kokomo.  Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. Monday, August 21st at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.  Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer’s Research.  The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Great Lakes Hospice for their care of Lawana.   Condolences to the family may be shared at www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
