Robert J. Burge Sr., 82 of Kokomo passed away at 1:18 am Friday, November 10, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.  He was born September 23, 1935 in Howard County to Marshal L. and Anna Rachel (Haworth) Burge.   He married Linda M Sites on November 2, 1957 in Kokomo and she survives.

Robert was a machine operator for Dietzen’s Bakery in Kokomo for several years before it’s closing.  He later worked for Lewis Brothers in Marion, Indiana and owned and operated Burge Lawn Care for 48 plus years.  He enjoyed tractor pulls, cars, bowling, but most importantly he enjoyed his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Linda Burge, Kokomo; his children, Robert (Tamara) Burge Jr. Kokomo; Jamie Cole, Frankfort; and Paul (Mindy) Burge, Walton.  Surviving grandchildren include, Jordan DeWitt and fiancée Heather Carter, L. Seth Burge, Rachel (Andrew) Berkshire, Mason Cole, Matt (Amber) Wallace, Holly Hood, Austin Oakes, Tyecha Oakes and Kyle Oakes.  Surviving great grandchildren include, Keith Joseph Edward Berkshire, Ronin DeWitt, Gavin Wallace, Hannah Hood, Henley Hood and Makiha Chandler.  He is also survived by his three sisters, Kay, Mary and Katie and brother and sister’s in-law, Butch and Chris Alcorn, Keith and Donna Ebert, David and Sharon Sites and John Young.   He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 13th, 2017 at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with burial to follow at North Union Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4 – 6 p.m. Sunday also at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help the family with funeral expenses. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
