Robert L. Gordon Sr.

February 19, 1924 ~ July 5, 2017 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Robert L. Gordon Sr., 93, of Lucerne, went home to be with the Lord at 9:24 a.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.  He was born February 19, 1924 in Kewanna, Indiana to Eugene L. and Maude A. (Robbins) Gordon.   He married Rose Ann Daugherty on May 28, 1950 in Fulton, Indiana and she survives.

He graduated from Macy High School, the International Business College, Manchester University, and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville and earned his Masters Degree from Indiana University.

Bob taught at Lewis Cass Jr. Sr. High School from 1964 – 1985.  He pastored several churches: Miami Baptist Church, Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Adams, Indiana and Mill Creek Baptist Church in Mill Creek, Indiana.

Surviving family include his wife Rose Ann Gordon, Lucerne, IN; daughter, Ruth G. (Wayne) Wanner, Stone Mountain, GA;  two sons, Robert (Sarah) Gordon Jr., Lucerne, IN and David (Candice) Gordon, Torrance, CA; and daughter Elizabeth Bush of Macy IN; grandchildren, Andrea Corso, Emily Gordon and Sara Phillips; great grandchildren, Jack and Chance Phillips.  He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, and his siblings.

A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 9th at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.  Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.  It was Bob’s wish that everyone wear bright colors to the services.  Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Southeastern Junior/Senior High School Scholarship Fund in Bob’s honor. You may also leave a condolence to the family at www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
