Steven M. Bechtol, 60, of Logansport, passed into eternity at his home early Monday morning after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born March 15, 1957 in Wabash County to John E. and Burneda (Lynch) Bechtol. He married the love of his life, Maggie H. Moyer on Valentines day of 1985.
Steven retired from Chrysler this past December with 22 years in Machine Repair. He was a member of the U.A.W. and the son’s of the American Legion. He enjoyed riding his Harley, loved working on cars, being outside, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and taking trips to Florida with his family. He loved his dogs, Jinx, Patches, the newest addition, a gift from his children on fathers day, Olive, his french bull dog he always wanted.
Surviving family include his wife Maggie H. Bechtol, Logansport; his daughter, Tiffany (Rob) Favors, Sheridan, IN and son, Bryan Bechtol of Logansport. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Caitlin Favors, Alex (Melissa) Bechtol, Alexis Favors, Morgan Bechtol, Spencer Bowman and Rylan Bowman and a great granddaughter, Paisleigh Bechtol. Surviving siblings include Nannette Bailey, Fishers; John Bechtol, La Fountain; and Kim (Steve) Dyson, Corydon.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24th at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Chaplin Larry Phillips officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 – 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society to help fight pancreatic cancer.
