Alice M. Long, 85, of Walton, went home to be with the Lord at 8:17 pm Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Millers Merry Manor in Logansport.  She was born June 27, 1932 in Cass County to Joseph and Marie (Bowman) Rhodes.   She married George Long on November 12, 1950 in Galveston and he survives.

Alice worked as a telephone operator for many years.  She also served as Clerk for the Town of Walton for 17 years retiring in 1993.  She was a member of Onward Christian Church in Onward.  She enjoyed fishing and her pets, especially her dogs.

She is survived by her husband George Long, Walton; her children, Jerry Lynn (Gayle) Long, Kokomo and Darla Jean Clark (Mark Guy) Galveston.  She is also survived by her three granddaughters and eight great grandchildren and sister Jane Ross of Peru, Indiana.  She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 20th at Onward Christian Church, 21 Oak Street, Onward, Indiana with Rev. Rod Mason officiating.  Burial will follow at Walton IOOF Cemetery in Walton.  Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday evening at Onward Christian Church in Onward.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Walton Vol. Fire Dept.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Murray Weaver Funeral Home. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
