Frieda L. Grabbe, 93, of Kokomo formerly of Walton, went home to be with the Lord at 2:00 a.m. Sunday, September 10, 2017 at The Wellington in Kokomo.  She was born December 13, 1923 in Sullivan County Indiana to Edward and Myrtle (Gore) Elwood.   She married Elmer E. Grabbe on June 28, 1941 in Caledonia, Michigan and he preceded her in death on February 15, 2001.

Frieda was a bookkeeper for several lumberyards over the years.  She was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Kokomo and attended Blue Ball Church in Walton in her later years.  She was also a founding member of Calvary Baptist Church in Logansport.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crochet, reading music, bible studies, traveling to the holy land and most importantly, playing games with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving family include her son, David L. (Carolyn) Grabbe, Kokomo; daughter, Joyce E. (Edward) Gunderson, Morrison, CO; and daughter Phyllis A. (Ron) Babb, Bradenton, FL; 14 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Wayne Grabbe, Odon, IN.   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer, daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Harlan Bowers, 3 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, 1 brother and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 15th at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Keith Treadway officiating.  Burial will follow at Hoover Snider Cemetery near Young America.  Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Reflections at the Wellington in Kokomo or Bible Baptist Church.  The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to all the staff at Reflections at the Wellington for their excellent care of Frieda.  Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
