Gairold E. “Jerry” Patton, 71, of Logansport, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 8:57 a.m. Saturday, April 13th at Bay Pines Veterans Hospital in Bay Pines, Florida. He was born August 7, 1947 in Warren County, Indiana to James and Letha (Emerson) Patton.
He married Victoria A. Kay on June 1, 2001 in Logansport and she survives. Gairold retired from the United States Army where he served as a Master Sergeant E8 after 25 years service. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Kokomo and was a former member of First Baptist Church in Danville, IL and Hillcrest Baptist Church in Logansport, IN.
Surviving family include his wife Victoria Patton of Logansport; his children, Craig (Erin) Patton; Angela Patton and Rachel “Shelli” Patton-Spear (Jason); his step children, Nicole Echols, Melissa Locke and Jonathan (Jessica) Landis; his grandchildren, Christopher, Laine, Bonnie, Mark, Jadelyn, Shayne, Jenna, Luke and Gunner; his step grandchildren, Erica and husband Nick, Alanna, Rollie, Bryan, Kenny, Brooklynn, Ryan and Chloey. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren and one sister, Ethel Payne and one brother, Reece Patton. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Bonnie, sisters, Mildred Downing and Lula Smith and brothers, Charles Patton and James Patton Jr.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 26that Temple Baptist Church, 1700 S. Goyer Road in Kokomo with Rev. Dr. Mike Holloway officiating. Burial will follow with full military honors at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Logansport. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church in Kokomo. Memorial contributions may be given to Temple Baptist Church, 1700 S. Goyer Rd., Kokomo, IN 46902 or Community Bible Church, Pinellas Park, FL 33781 in Jerry’s honor.
