Hazel J (Easter) Cree

Hazel J. Cree, 86, formerly of Galveston, went home to be with the Lord at 3:27 pm Thursday, February 1, 2018 at North Woods Village Healthcare Center in Kokomo.  She was born September 15, 1931 in Hardwick, KY to Sidney A. and Elizabeth J. (Curtis) Easter.  She married Donald Leroy Cree on December 30, 1956 in Irvine, KY.  Don preceded her in death March 26, 1993.

Hazel worked as a nurse for Chase Manor in Logansport and Sycamore Village in Kokomo for several years before going to work for Delco Electronics.   She retired from Delco in 1986.  She enjoyed reading, mushroom hunting, shopping and gambling.

Surviving family include her children, James (Suzie) Jordan, Ft. Wayne, IN; Tonna (Casper) Burkhart, London, KY; John (Mary) Jordan, Walton, IN; Donna Baker (Tim Woller) of Lake Havasu City, AZ; Donald Wayne Cree, Galveston, IN and William “Bill” and Pam Kaufman of Kokomo.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Joshua, Jennifer, John, Adam, Shawn, Jamie, Jacob and Danielle and seventeen great grandchildren.  One sister also survives her, Audrey Carter of Melbourne, FL.    Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two great grandchildren, five sisters and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Steve Cole officiating.  Burial will follow at Walton IOOF Cemetery in Walton.  Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 pm Wednesday, February 7th at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Association.  www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
