Jean (Fitzer) Baber

Jean Baber, 92, of Walton, went home to be with the Lord at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday morning, July 3, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.   She was born July 19, 1926 in Cass County to Millard and Pearl (Walker) Fitzer.  She married Orval J. “Doc” Baber on November 8, 1946 in the Walton Christian Church in Walton, Indiana.  Doc preceded her in death on September 6, 2008.

Jean worked as a clerk for the Walton Post Office for many years.  She was a member of the Walton Christian Church and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #418 in Walton.  She enjoyed making seasonal crafts and using FaceTime on her iPhone with her grandsons and their families on the weekends.

Surviving family include her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Cindy Baber of Walton, her grandsons whom she loved and was very proud of, Dr. Joel and Kristen Baber of Dunlap, IL and Dr. Jacob and Lynette Baber of Dallas, PA.  She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Brinley, Jackson and Liam and sister Doris Cook of Greensburg, Indiana.  Jean is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Orval, two brothers, Donald and Vic Fitzer and sister Evelyn Kaufman.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Rev. Bill Collins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Walton IOOF Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until the time of services at 3:00 at the funeral home on Sunday.   Memorial contributions may be given to Walton Christian Church or the Walton Community Center in lieu of flowers.  Murray Weaver Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
