Jean E. (Burrous) Routt

Jean E. Routt, 98, of Peru, passed away at 5:03 p.m. Thursday, October 3, 2019 at her home in Peru.  She was born February 15, 1921 in Deer Creek Township, Cass County to Otis and Cora (Munson) Burrous.  

Jean graduated from Deacon High School in Deacon, Indiana and then went on to earn her RN from the St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Kokomo.  She served as a registered nurse for St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo and later retired as a registered nurse from General Motors Delco Electronics also in Kokomo.  She loved crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting, her flowers, gardening and her cats.  She was also a wonderful cook.

Surviving family include her sons, Kevin Routt, Peru, IN and Roger Routt of Flora, IN.  She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Casey Hrabos, Angela Hollis, Terry Hollis, Dawn Eagleman, Jeffrey Balph, Dennis Routt, Tom Routt, Tiffany Hayes and John Routt, nineteen great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.  Jean is preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Jacqueline and one brother Wayne Burrous.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Rev. Joe Coffin officiating.  A time of visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.  Murray Weaver Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
