Jean Ann Bailey, 85, of Galveston, passed away Thursday morning February 1st at her home in Galveston. She was born March 24, 1932 in Peru, Indiana to John W. and Mabel M. (Benner) Riggle. She married Dr. George I. Bailey on June 22, 1974 in Kokomo and he survives.
Jean retired from Delco Electronics in Kokomo with over 20 years service. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Tipton Moose Lodge and was a volunteer for the Indiana State Fair Spotted Swine Association.
Surviving family include her husband, Dr. George Bailey, Galveston; her children, Kathy Roper, Belleville, IL; Cheryl Butler, Kokomo, IN; Teresa Boyer, Kokomo, IN; Beth (Dave) Jump, Walton, IN; Dr. Gail King MD, Carbondale, CO; George A. Bailey, Washington D.C.; and Mary Bailey West Palm, FL. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters, Cynthia Elaine and Rebecca Kay, four siblings, Richard, Donald and John William Riggle Jr. and Loretta Bennett.
A celebration of Jean Ann’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 6th at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Chaplin Richard Olson officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association www.alz.org.
