Joe A. Parent

Joe A. Parent, 73, of Kokomo, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo.  He was born October 18, 1945 in Newport, Indiana to Perry and Betty (Porter) Parent.  On September 29, 1964 in Paris, IL he married Phyllis “Kay” Miller.    She preceded him in death July 15, 2015.

Joe retired from General Motors in Kokomo with many years service.  He was a member of U.A.W. Local #292 and the Bass Masters Association. He was also active in the Jim “Moose” Carden Kids Fishing Clinic.   Joe loved to fish.

Surviving family include his children, Jay (Stephanie) Parent, Galveston, Indiana and Lisa Parent of Miami, Indiana; four grandchildren, Porter, Parker, Justin and Ty.  He is also survived by his brother and sister’s in-law, Russell Miller, Terre Haute; Billy Allen, Terre Haute, Cheryl Allen, Galveston, Karen Orwig, N.C.; Kathy (Bill) Young, Monticello; and Mary Louise Fitzpatrick, Terre Haute.  He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Kay, and one brother Porter.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 22nd at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with burial immediately following in the Galveston Cemetery.  Visitation will take place from 12 noon until the time of services on Thursday at the funeral home.
