Larry A. Onkes, 75, of Kokomo, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the Wellington in Kokomo.  He was born July 5, 1943 to Ansel A. and Frances L. (Beck) Levy.

Larry was a 1961 graduate of Kokomo High School.  He retired from Delco Electronics with 30 years service.    Larry loved sharing his spiritual gifts of faith, serving and evangelism.  His peers admired him for his Bible knowledge and servants heart.  He was always there to lend a hand on any project at his church or a friend’s need.  He enjoyed cars and had a love for his pets.  Larry enjoyed fixing things and tinkering around, he tried to find different ways to repurpose things.  He loved helping residents at The Wellington during his time there.  He loved music and playing the acoustic guitar.  Larry also enjoyed telling stories, some were definitely factual and some were questionable… Never the less he loved telling them.   He was a loving father, grandpa, brother and friend.  He will be dearly missed.   Larry is survived by his daughter, Cristina Jones, grandchildren; Halie (Jones) Petersen, Kenzie Cornier and husband Gabriel, Gracie Jones, Lillie Jones, Curtis Clark, Sammy Irwin, Destin Irwin and several great grandchildren; one sister, Robin and husband Larry Wall and one brother, Michael and wife Janet Levy. He was also survived by three nephews, Andrew (Laura) Johanning, Alan Johanning and Uriah Levy.   He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Kimberly Ann Onkes, and two brothers, Richard A. Onkes and Mark D. Levy.

The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Southern Care Hospice for their nurturing care of Larry during his illness as well as The Wellington for their friendly, caring, honest staff who became Larry’s family the past few years.

In keeping with family wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date with Pastor Garey Miller officiating.  Memorial contributions may be sent to First Church of the Nazarene, 2734 S. Washington, Kokomo, IN  46902 in Larry’s honor.  Murray Weaver Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
