Margaret (Downhour) Allen

Margaret Allen, 87, of Logansport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ at 6:30 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2017 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Logansport.  She was born December 31, 1929 in Galveston to Warren Lester and Marie (Sisson) Downhour.   She married John A. Allen on February 2, 1951 in Cass County and he survives.

Margaret graduated in the first class of Northwestern High School in 1949.  She retired from Delco Electronics in 1987 with 20 years service.   She enjoyed traveling with her husband John to Alaska and Canada in their Volkswagen.  She also enjoyed reading her Bible and serving the Lord with all of her heart.  Her family and grandchildren were very important to her.  She loved them all dearly.

Surviving family include her husband John A. Allen, Logansport; her children, Jeanette (Kent) Land, Russiaville;  Tim (Dora) Allen, Logansport; Tom Allen, Toms River, New Jersey; and Becky (Ted) Neuschwanger, Heltonville, IN.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, and a sister, Louise Morrison of Chicago.   She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John Downhour.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 31st at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Andrew Green officiating.  Burial will follow at Ever Rest Memorial Park Cemetery in Logansport.  Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. Monday, October 30th at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Billy Graham Evangelical Association in her honor.  You may leave a message of condolence to her family at
