Marilyn Sisson, 81, of Walton, passed away peacefully at 11:18 a.m. at The Wellington of Kokomo. She was born May 29, 1937 in Nebraska to Gordon and Gladys (Putman) Rook. She married her high school sweetheart, William “Bill” H. Sisson Jr. on June 21, 1958 in Waterloo, New York. Bill preceded her in death on February 4, 2017.
Marilyn was a schoolteacher from 1958 – 1965. She then became a full time wife and mother to her family. Later in life, she again became an adult education teacher and volunteered for many organizations. She was very active with Friends of the Library in the communities where she has lived.
Surviving family include her daughters and son-in-laws, Carol “Carrie” (Mike) Munson, Walton, IN and Elizabeth “Ann” (Bill) Vogeley, Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren, Mike D. (Carrie Ann) Munson, Kokomo and Paul Munson, Great Falls, MT; great grandchildren include, Meagan (Adam) Leach, Nicole Munson, Sam Munson and Nathan Munson.
She is also survived by siblings, Thomas Rook, Seneca Falls, NY, Robert (Jill) Rook, Seneca Falls, NY; Ellen (Tim) Linehan, Waterloo, NY; Elaine Derby, Seneca Falls, NY and sister-in-law, Carol Rook of Waterloo, NY and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Bill, brother William Rook and Grandson William Munson.
A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Harry Roselle officiating. Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 pm prior to the funeral services. Memorial contributions may be given to the Walton Public Library or Charity of Donor’s Choice.
