Norma Jean Winters, 91, of Walton, a fun and loving mother, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, June 30that Millers Merry Manor in Logansport. She was born November 11, 1927 in Logansport to Wilbur and Bessie (Hopper) Wilson. She married Jack A. Winters on March 23, 1945 in Logansport and he preceded her in death on September 12, 2002.
Norma Jean worked for General Tire for over 20 years; she was also a school bus driver for Southeastern School Corporation for many years. She was a life member of the American Legion Post #418 Auxiliary in Walton. She enjoyed working with stained glass and loved swing dancing with her husband and partner Jack.
Surviving children include Nancy (Joe) McIntosh, Walton; Linda Riley, Walton; Judy (Chuck) Lewis, Logansport; Jerry Winters, Edwardsville, IL; and Deborah (Dave) Janettas, Gulf Shores, AL; surviving grandchildren, Leslie (Scott) Thompson, Cicero; Lt. Jessica Shafer (Tim Woody), USCG Cape Disappointment, WA; Julie (Mike) Meiszberg, Granger, IN; Jodie (Brad) Raker, Clearwater, FL; Kelly McIntosh (Todd Wirth); Kaelan (Wendy) McIntosh; Jesse (Jamie) Riley; Courtney (Chris) Murray; Adrienne (Ben) Grant; Kayla (Gradon) Kamp; Tyler (Nichole) Winters; and Erica Dash. Surviving great grandchildren, Jayden and Jordyn Riley, Norah, Polly and Ingrid Thompson, Michael and Carson Woody, Kailyn, Kassidy and Karson Meiszberg, Mary, Ava and Madilyn Raker, Zoey McIntosh, , Devion, Dayshaun and Darian Murray, Kelsey, Bradon and Braxton Grant, Kira and Gabe Kamp, Malachi and Pruitt Winters, Olive and Charlie Dash III. One great great grandson, Casey Meiszberg. Surviving siblings include, Faye Wilson, Logansport, Eugene (Pam) Wilson, Logansport and Tim (Martha) Wilson, Logansport. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack, son, Jay and sisters, May and Evelyn.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Ben Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Walton IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2019 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Legion Post #418, Walton, IN.
