Opal K. Taylor, 97, of Walton, passed away at 6:08 p.m. Sunday at Chase Center in Logansport. She was born October 14, 1920 in Wawpecong, IN to Eddie Ross and Dessie (Tyre) Altice. She married Roy G. Taylor in Lafayette in 1942. He preceded her in death August 19, 1987.
Opal was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing, traveling, crochet and cooking. She loved her grandchildren dearly and was an avid bingo player. She was a member of the Walton United Methodist Church and the Walton American Legion Aux. Post #418.
Surviving family include her two sons, Don (Donna) Taylor, and Larry Taylor both of Walton. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Denise (Robert) Name; Teresa Taylor; Roy (Joy) Taylor; Adam Taylor; Aaron Taylor; Joshua Holley; Jessica (Steve) Walker; Heather Tincher; Justin Small; Tiffany Lambert; Robert Taylor; Rich Taylor and Shelley Taylor; 31 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roy, one son, Jim Taylor, one brother, one sister and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Carolyn DeWitt officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 21st also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in the Walton IOOF Cemetery.
