Bernice Delores (Hemmeger) Record 98 of Walton, went home to be with her Lord on July 21, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.

Bernice was born November 5, 1920 in Grant County, Indiana to the late Fred and Edna (Vermillion) Hemmeger. On December 22, 1939 in Howard County, Indiana, she married Carl Jr. Record who preceded her in death February 25, 1997.

Bernice graduated from Howard Township School in 1939, she was one of eight in graduating class. During WWII she followed her husband, who was in the Army, around the country until he was deployed to Germany. After that she went on to work at Delco Electronics until her retirement in 1981.

Surviving are two children; son, William (Mary) Record of Kokomo, daughter; Patricia (Michael) Hill of Flora, five grandchildren; Sheila (Brian) Knight; Douglas Record, Christine (Jeff) Roller, Annette (Trish) Tucker, Kenneth (Shae) Carter; seven great grandchildren; Brianna Knight (fiancée Ethan Frey), Stacy (Paul) Hunt, Carlissa (Noah) Byers, Shelby Roller, Kody, Kiley and Erik Carter; three great-great grandchildren, Kendall and Cutler Frey, Chloe Hunt.

Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Edna(Vermillion) Hemmeger; husband, Carl Jr Record; sisters, Mary Wycoff, Martha Ball, Virginia “Pidge” Hemmeger, Joan Swanson; twin brothers, Earl and Elmer Hemmeger; seven brothers and sisters passing at birth.

Bernice`s greatest joys in life came from her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. Bernice was a light that could make any room brighter, she could make any bad day better, and she gave the best snuggles. She will be missed for her tender heart, independent way of living every day to the fullest, and her contagious smile.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m on Friday July 26, at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston, Indiana with Pastor Bill Collins officiating. Final resting place will follow at Ever Rest Memorial Park, Logansport, Indiana.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m on Thursday, July 25, also at Murray-Weaver Funeral Home, Galveston, Indiana. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Guardian Angel Hospice, Logansport, Indiana. Envelopes will be available at Funeral Home.  Murray Weaver Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
