Deborah Martin Beebe Obituary

Deborah J. Martin Beebe, 71, of Peru, Indiana went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at her home.   She was born on March 7, 1948 in Buffalo, New York to Julian P. and Bernice (Brown) Scudder. She married her first husband, John G. Martin on Nov. 6, 1971, and later she was remarried to Lester Beebe on March 7, 2003, both surviving.

She gave her life to the Lord early in her childhood, and built a strong faith which she shared with everyone she met throughout her life.  Her legacy in life was to pass this faith on to her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

She was a 1966 graduate of Orchard Park High School in Orchard Park, New York, and graduated from Emmaus Bible College in Chicago, IL.  In her early adult life, she was a preschool teacher and a nursing assistant in a newborn nursery. She was a floral designer for much of her career at Pleasant Hill Greenhouse in Logansport, IN and eventually started her own wedding floral design and decor business called “Something Special” in Anoka, IN.  She later expanded the business to include a hair salon where she also was a hair stylist.

Deborah was very talented and artistic. She had a gift for making everything she touched beautiful.  In addition to floral and hair design, she enjoyed painting, calligraphy, quilting, sewing and crochet. She used her talents to express her love to others by hand-crafting gifts especially for her grandchildren, family, friends and under privileged children within the community.

She enjoyed serving the Lord through many capacities within the church.  She was a leader and volunteer in children’s ministries including Vacation Bible School, Good News Club, and church preschool.  She volunteered her time doing church secretarial work, singing special music and with the choir. She and her husband, John, shared their love of music by singing around the community for many years. They nurtured musical talent and instilled this love for music within their children. She was a member of the Extension Homemakers Club, and enjoyed the Sonshine Ladies weekly women’s bible study.

She was actively involved with her children's and grandchildren’s activities. She volunteered in the school by serving on the PTO board, and was a volunteer and supporter of 4-H, FFA, Lewis Cass Marching Band, Lewis Cass Choir and Purdue Music Organizations (PMO).  Later in life, one of her favorite pastimes was watching livestock shows across the country and FFA conventions involving her family on Walton Webcasting.

Surviving family include her children, Jenny (Kevin) Eggerling, Walton, IN; Chad Martin, Flora, IN; and Joe Martin of Nineveh, IN. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, Lauryn, Aaron, and Leah Willison and Holden Eggerling.  She has one brother surviving, David Scudder of Rolla, MO and a sister-in-law, Shirley Scudder of St. James, MO.  Surviving nieces and nephews include, John (Debra) Scudder, Glen (Lee) Scudder, Monica (Sean) Cain, Tim (Cheri) Scudder, Bruce (Melissa) Boman, Brian Boman and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Jack Scudder, sister-in-law, Gini Scudder, sister-in-law, Mary Louis Boman, brother-in-law, Carl Boman and nephews James and Michael Scudder.

Visitation will take place from 2 – 6 p.m. Sunday, November 3rd at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 4th at the funeral home with Scott Halterman officiating.  Burial will follow in the Ramer Cemetery near Walton.  Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
