Dixie L. (Skidmore) Sanders

Dixie L. (Skidmore) Sanders, 81, of Kokomo, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  She was born December 21, 1943, in Miami County, Indiana.  She is the daughter of Charles F. and Daisy L. (Glassburn) Skidmore.

She married the love of her life Tommy L. Sanders on July 15, 1961, in Kokomo.  Tommy preceded her in death July 3, 1998.

Dixie retired from Delco Electronics in 1998 with over 29 years of service in production and the Fab 3 department.  She was active in her church and enjoyed playing piano.  She was also a wonderful cook and baker.  She enjoyed working puzzles and spending time with her grandkids.

Surviving family include her children, Brian (Tamberly) Sanders, Mark (Angie) Sanders, and Monty (Liz) Sanders.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Zach (Megan) Sanders, Brittany, LeAnna and Kiersten Sanders, Kaitlyn (Cole) Riley and Kyle (Faith) Sanders.   She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Tommy, and sister, Judy Ingram.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Toph Elkins officiating.  Burial will follow in the Galveston Cemetery.  Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Samaritan Caregivers in Dixie’s memory.
