Gary Commons

Gary D. Commons, 77, passed away peacefully at 4:18 AM on Friday December 9, 2022, at Blair Ridge Health Campus in Peru IN. He was born August 12, 1945, in Indianapolis, IN to Harold and Mary Olive Commons. Gary graduated from Westfield High School, subsequently serving in the Army thus becoming a proud Vietnam Veteran. After leaving the military Gary worked at Chrysler for 32 years before retiring. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He loved football and had many hobbies, including woodworking, painting, making wind chimes and walking sticks. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Dorothy “Dot” Commons, his brother Michael Commons (Largo,FL), daughter Jennifer Commons (Kokomo), son and daughter in-law Joshua and Lynn Commons (Peru), stepsons Scott Eltzroth (Kokomo) and Jason Boruff (Indianapolis). Grandchildren include Lee Walser, Sarah Byers, Dylan Commons and Porter Commons. 3 great grandsons and 1 great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Commons and sister Shirley Holiday. Gary’s wishes were to be cremated with a private service at a later date. The family wish to thank the staff of Blair Ridge for the wonderful care they provided Gary.
