Helen Harmon Obituary

Helen Harmon 94, of Winter Haven, Fl, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at Winter Haven Hospital. She passed away peacefully with Mike and Angie by her side. She was born March 9, 1927, in Burlington Indiana, to Grover and Laura (Kuhn) Powell. Helen married Basil Harmon on July 14, 1945 and he proceeded her in death September 12, 1982.
 

Helen retired from Delco Electronics in Kokomo with many years of service. She was a member of Upper Deer Creek Church when she lived in Indiana. From Snowbird to permanent resident of Winter Haven , she enjoyed 3 o’clocktherapy session with her friends and family on the porch, also weekly card games with Gene & Barb, Lana, and Becky & Richard. Also Thursday night dinners at the clubhouse and getting her hair done, but the love of her life was taking care of her cat, Sassy.
 

Surviving family members include son Mike & Angie Harmon of Winter Haven. Grandchildren Chris Harmon and Kim Martin of Kokomo, Heather and Shawn Kinney of Kokomo, Mark and Manda Tyler of Kokomo. Great-grandchildren include Taylin and Elijah Kinney, Hunter, Brody and Greyson Tyler. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Madeline Hines of Kokomo, and several nieces and nephews, she was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Basil, her brother “JR” Powell, sister Lottie Rockhill, Vada Israel and Bessie Faye Wire and sister-in-law Margaret Reinke. Also the family would like to extend a special thank you to Helen’s neighbor Lana for taking such good care of her in Florida.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Murray Weaver Funeral home in Galveston with Rev. Eddie Ray Jones officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. Tuesday until service time at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Galveston cemetery
