James "Bill" Moore Obituary

James William “Bill” Moore, 95, of Galveston went home to be with the Lord at 6:40 a.m. Sunday morning, September 18, 2022, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo.  He was born December 9, 1926, in Howard County to Mary E. (Lybrook) and James D. Moore.  He graduated from Ervin Township High School in 1944.  He married Virginia A. Lenon on October 28, 1949, by the Reverend Harry Rea in Young America.

 

Bill served in the United States Army in Germany from 1945 – 1946.  He was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Young America.  He was also a member of the Walton and Young America Lions Clubs, the Walton American Legion, and the U.S.B.C. Bowling Association.  Bill was a farmer and raised hogs, as well as doing construction.  He enjoyed bowling, fishing, and puzzles of all kinds.

 

Surviving family include his sister, Frances Nelson, Galveston; three children, Carol (Steve) Lowe, New Waverly, son, Mike (Theresa) Moore, Galveston, and daughter, Diane (Kevin) Lovelace, Kokomo.  Grandchildren include, Dave (Nicki) Lowe, Kevin Lowe, of New Waverly, Kyra Miller, Galveston, Brooke (Ben) Duecker, Somerset, Jamyn (Monica) Moore, Washington, Jacob (Nicole) Lovelace, Missouri, Meagan (Brian) Flowers, Muncie.  Great-grandchildren are Braydon, Dalton, Kelsey, Jalin and Dillon Lowe, Madison, Morgan and Kadence Miller, Tenley and Irelyn Duecker, Sadie and Emery Moore, Grace and Ava Flowers, Nolan Lovelace, Hunter and Madeline Lovelace, Skylar Schultz and Bryleigh Byers.  He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.  Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Virginia, his parents, and his brother Gene.

 

Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 PM, Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 23, 2022, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Spangler officiating.  Burial will follow at Ever Rest Memorial Park Cemetery in Logansport with Military Honors.   Murray Weaver Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
