James L. "Jim" Myers Obituary

James L. “Jim” Myers, 66, of Bunker Hill, passed away surrounded by his family at 8:10 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru.  He was born January 8, 1956, in Kokomo to John W. and Georgiana (Hullinger) Myers.  He married Brenda K. Dillman on August 9, 1975, in Mt. Zion Free Methodist Church, and she survives.

 

Jim graduated from General Motors Institute with a degree in Electrical Engineering, co-oping with Delco Electronics during his studies, and working for Delco full-time after graduation.  He later worked for Intel Corporation, retired after 16 years, and then worked on contract for them after retirement. He enjoyed playing low brass in the Wabash Community Band as well as the Manchester Civic Band.  He loved riding his motorcycles and was a member of the Vintage Japanese Motorcycle Club.  He had a beautiful voice and sang in the Braden Castle Choir.   He was a member of the Mt. Zion Free Methodist Church in Kokomo.  During the winter months, he really enjoyed going to Florida for the warm weather and friends, and while there he attended the Orange Grove Free Methodist Church.  Above all, Jim loved the Lord, and he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.  He delighted in motorcyle trips with Brenda and friends, as well as teaching his children and grandsons to ride.

 

Surviving family include his wife Brenda Myers, of Bunker Hill; his children, Pete and wife Cynthia Myers of Albuquerque, NM and daughter Jamie Myers of Greer, SC.  Surviving grandchildren are Ethan and Brennan Myers of Albuquerque.  Jim is also survived by siblings, John D. (Cindi) Myers, Stephen J. (Laura) Myers, and Timothy F. (Laura) Myers.  He is preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Georgiana Myers.

 

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Mt. Zion Free Methodist Church, 13048 S. CR 400 W. Kokomo, IN. 46901 with Pastor Jackson Moore and Pastor Ranay Brown officiating, burial will follow services in the Galveston Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m. at the church.
