Jean R. (Gower) Chalk, 89, of Kokomo, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Waterford Place in Kokomo. She was born February 21, 1936, in Judsonia, Arkansas to Ray and Lorene (Hembree) Gower. She was raised in the home of Loyd and Lola Maness. Jean married Harold M. Chalk on December 13, 1955, in Judsonia, Arkansas and he preceded her in death March 9, 2021.
She graduated from Judsonia High School in Judsonia, Arkansas and Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas. She worked for Montgomery Ward in Kokomo and for Darrell Gillem as a secretary for his Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise. Jean also served as secretary for WE CARE in Kokomo for many years. She spent her life caring for others, finding her greatest joy in being a mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt to many. Her nurturing spirit, endless patience and unconditional love shaped generations and touched countless lives.
Surviving family include her son and daughter in law, Tom and Carol Chalk of Kokomo; her grandchildren, Jamie (Chris) Martin; Jacob (Whitney) Chalk and Tiffany Taylor. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Casen Martin, Clayton Chalk and Taylor Chalk. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, daughter, Tami Rody, sister, Shirlene Thomas and brother, T.S. Gower.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Waterford Place Health Campus and Compassus Hospice; especially Meagan for the love she showed to her “Jean Bean”.
In keeping with Jean’s wishes, no services are planned. Murray Weaver Funeral Home is honored to serve the Chalk family.
