Joyce A. (Goodwin) Barnes

Joyce A. Barnes, 60, of Galveston, passed away unexpectedly early Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo.   She was born February 1, 1964, to Lewis Dean Deeds and Delores L. Spencer in Lubbock, Texas.  Joyce married Carl W. Barnes in May of 2004 and celebrated over 20 years of marriage together.

Joyce was a homemaker, wife, mother, sister and grandmother to her family.  She enjoyed anything outdoors, especially mowing her yard, tending to her chickens , gardening and crafting.  She loved her family with a passion and would do anything for them, especially her grandbabies.

Surviving family include her husband Carl W. Barnes of Galveston; her children, Nathan (Jenna) Lee; Emily (Stephen) Lee, Chris (Amber) Barnes; Nikki Barnes, and Eddie Barnes.   Her beloved grandbabies, Dillon, Asher, Wyatt, Lily, Elaine, Corbin, Kensley, Callie Jo, Austyn and Adriana.  She is also survived by two sisters and a brother, Deborah Deeds, Pamela Winans and Dean Deeds.  She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Deanie, Rob and Allen.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Center Community of Faith Church, 1475 E. CR 1125 S. Galveston, Indiana.  Funeral services will follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Pastor Brent Cripe officiating.   Burial will follow in the Center Cemetery behind the church.   In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society in Joyce’s memory.   Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
