Lena "Tootie" Johnson Obituary

 

Lena R. “Tootie” Johnson, 85, of Galveston, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 5:25 p.m. Monday, February 21, 2022, at North Woods Village in Kokomo.  She was born August 31, 1936, in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to Lawrence and Helen (Hutto) McKee.  She married Stanley “Rex” Johnson on August 31, 1956, in Kokomo and he preceded her in death July 30, 2009.  First and foremost, Tootie loved Jesus with all her heart.  She was always a witness to all who knew her and served Him her entire life.   She owned and operated Tootie’s Pizza in Sweetser, Indiana from 1978 – 2002.   She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandma to her family.  She was a member of Galveston First Baptist Church for many years.  She enjoyed mushroom hunting,fishing, and taking family vacations to Florida.   Surviving family members include her children, Karen (Patrick) LeFeber of Converse, IN and Rex Matthew Johnson of Kokomo.   Surviving grandchildren are Caleb Johnson of Kokomo; Kristen (Jacob) Holmes of Bowling Green, KY; and Colby LeFeber of Marion, IN.  She was also granny to several great grandchildren.  She has one brother surviving, Tom (Teresa) McKee of Kokomo and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Rex, grandson Kyle Summers, sisters Loraine Carter, Wanda Clark, and Ruth Morgan and brother, Larry McKee.

In keeping with Tootie’s wishes, private services will be held.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Research in her memory.  Murray Weaver Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
