Marion Apple Obituary

 

 

Marion C. Apple, 93, of Walton, went home to be with the Lord at 4:58 a.m. at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born May 4, 1932 in Kokomo, Indiana to Marion M. and Elizabeth (Clifton) Apple. He married the love of his life, Kathleen M. Woolley on April 4, 1959 in the Galveston First Baptist Church and she survives.

Marion served his country in the US Army on active duty from 12/1952-9/1954 during the Korean War and was assigned to the 558 Military Police Battalion during part of his service. He remained in the Army Reserves until 11/1960.

Marion was a farmer but later made a career change and retired from the Indiana Department of Revenue as a supervisor after many years of service. He and his wife Kathleen were members of Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Kokomo for over 50 years. Marion enjoyed gardening, spending time with his family, and traveling to South Carolina and Navarre, Florida for many beachside vacations.

Surviving family include his wife Kathleen Apple of Walton; his daughter, Allison and husband Michael Swanton of Westfield, IN; his son, Clayton and wife Deb Apple of Brownsburg, IN; and four grandchildren; Katie Swanton, New York City, NY, Emily Swanton of Charlotte, NC; Ellen (Billy) White of Brownsburg, IN, Austin (Marikar) Apple of Zionsville, IN and 2 great grandsons. He is also survived by sisters, Hilda Kile and Mary Kitchell both of Galveston, IN. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Marion’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 705 E. Southway Blvd. Kokomo, Indiana with Pastors, John Dreyer and Carl Hingst officiating. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Walton IOOF Cemetery in Walton, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer in Marion’s memory.
