Mary F. Mynarski, 94, of Galveston, went home to be with the Lord at 1:45 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital Emergency Room in Kokomo. A Hospital Mary knew so well working at then named St. Joseph Hospital for over 40 years. Mary was born February 11, 1930, in Howard County to James Owen and Anna Delores (Harness) Fisher. She married Stanley Mynarski Jr. on November 13, 1949, at Upper Deer Creek Church in Galveston. Stanley preceded Mary in death on March 21, 2022. After Stanley’s passing Mary moved to Five Star Residences of Northwoods in Kokomo.
Mary started working at St. Joseph Hospital as a ward clerk, she then went back to school and earned her RN. Mary was a hard worker also helping Stanley on the family farm. Even though Stanley and Mary had no biological children, they became Uncle Stanley and Aunt Mary to many neighbors and close friends and family in the surrounding area. Mary enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, collecting stamps, coins, Hallmark ornaments and Barbie Dolls. She also loved cats which Stanley didn’t share the same affection.
Mary is survived by her Nieces and Nephews, close friends and care givers, and countless church family and others from the community. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Stanley, sisters, Myra J. Ridenour, Iris A. Hensley, and Carol Fisher.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at Murray Weaver Funeral home in Galveston with Rev. Joe Coffin officiating. Burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery. A time of visitation will take place from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Upper Deer Creek Church in Mary’s memory. Murray Weaver Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
