Michael David Vavricka, 64, of Kokomo, passed into the arms of Jesus on August 12, 2022, at the home of his daughter in North Carolina. Michael was born December 21, 1957, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Joseph Paul and Charlotte Jean (Pickering) Vavricka. He married Tamara (Reed) on October 19, 2002, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kokomo and she preceded him in death on June 20, 2004.
He was highly skilled. He worked at Wabash National in Lafayette for nearly 11 years, after two decades at Milbank Manufacturing. During many of his years at Wabash, he carpooled with his friend Bobby who he considered a brother. He also spent the last 18 years working at Kroger on his Sundays off from the factory.
In his younger years Michael held many interests. For years after graduating, he held the record for the Breaststroke at Lewis Cass high School. He was always the one behind the camera capturing snapshots of all those who he held close to his heart. He loved planting trees and working with his hands to make everything beautiful. Michael had a closet full of trophy’s from racing his 69 Chevelle in Bunker Hill. He never met a stranger. He loved to share photos of his children and grandchildren, with everyone he met. He would end his evenings taking moon light walks with his K9 companion, Shadow.
Michael has always been a faithful servant of God. He was always willing to submit his own plans, desires and rights to follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit. Going where he was led often came at a cost. And as a servant of God, he paid willingly.
Surviving family include his daughters, Christy (James) Kling, Courtney (Elliott) Kling and Kelli (Geoff) Horton; grandchildren, JT, Chris, Kory, River, Sophyea, Eli, Ila, and Desmond; siblings, Russell Vavricka, Patty Woodrome, Gloria Huse and Mary Vavricka Greenfield. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Tamera.
Mass of Christian burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 19, 2022, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1204 N. Armstrong St., Kokomo with visitation from 12:00 noon until service time at the church. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery.
