Paul Edwin Carver, 93, of Galveston, entered the gates of heaven at 6:37 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at his home. He was born May 9, 1926 to Harry and Orva Mae (Roe) Carver in Adams County, Indiana. Paul married Mary Rose “Rosie” Hicks on October 13, 1950 in Forest, Indiana and she survives.
Paul lived his entire adult life in Galveston. He retired from Civil Service at Grissom Air Force Base after 27 years of service and Bahler Grain in Galveston. He proudly served his country during World War 2 and the Korean Conflict. Paul was very active in his community over the years. He served as Jackson Township Trustee and was Sexton of Galveston Cemetery for over 20 years. He coached little league for his sons and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Galveston, 75-year member of the American Legion and was a past commander of the Galveston American Legion Post. Paul was also a 65-year member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of Ft. Wayne and 50-year member of Eastern Star.
Surviving family include his wife of 69 + years, Mary Rose “Rosie” Carver of Galveston, his children, Kathy Hawkins of The Villages, FL; Ed and wife Joan Carver of Port Charlotte, FL, and Chris and wife Pat Carver of Amboy, IN. Paul is also survived by his ten grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters.
Private services will be held Monday, April 13, 2020 at the Galveston Cemetery with Pastor Sean Cooper officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the First Baptist Church of Galveston food pantry.
