Rex M. Lowe, 91, of Kokomo, went home to be with the Lord at 12:37 a.m. Sunday morning at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born March 2, 1928 in Peru, Indiana to the late Henry F. and Mary Belle Downing. He married K. Joan Lowe on May 27, 1949 in Miami County and she survives.
Rex retired from Indiana Bell as an engineer in 1982 with 36 years’ service. He was a member of the Cassville United Methodist Church and the Isaac Walton League. He was an avid pheasant hunter and enjoyed wintering in Frost Proof, Florida for many years with his wife. At the age of 50, Rex earned his private pilot license and owned his own airplane. He thoroughly enjoyed flying.
Surviving family include his wife of 70 years, K. Joan Lowe of Kokomo, his son and daughter in law, Mark S. (Carol) Lowe of Kokomo and daughter-in-law, Karen Lowe. He is also survived by several grandchildren, Carrie (Matt) Biddinger of Arlington, TN; Nathaniel (Ashley) Lowe of Kentwood, MI; Jonathan (Megan) Lowe of Westfield, IN; Peter (Leigha) Lowe of Pine bluff, AR; Danny (Mindy) Lowe of Kokomo and Ron Lowe of Walton. Also surviving are eighteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Rex is preceded in death by his parents, son, Randy Lowe, three brothers and one sister.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 18th at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Rev. Kenton Lord and his son Rev. Mark Lowe officiating. Burial will take place at Ever Rest Memorial Park Cemetery in Logansport immediately following. A time of visitation will be held prior to services at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
