Richard E. “Dick” Cohee, 87, of Young America, went home to be with the Lord at 3:50 p.m. Monday, September 2, 2019 at Wellbrooke of Kokomo. He was born September 6, 1931 in Cass County to John L. and Isabelle Cohee. He first married Julia Ann Wilson in 1951 and she preceded him in death in 1963. He then married Marilyn J. Crite on March 26, 1965 in Kokomo and she survives.
Dick was a 1950 graduate of Young America High School. After graduation he served his county in the United States Air Force. He retired from Continental Steel in 1985 with 35 years service in the Welded Fab Dept. After retirement he enjoyed working with stained glass and woodworking. Dick always enjoyed telling stories around the kitchen table with family and friends.
Surviving family include his wife Marilyn Cohee of Young America, his sons, Rick (Myla) Cohee of Galveston and Gregory D. (Kelly) Crite of Louisville, KY. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jason Cohee, Mike Cohee, Matthew Cohee, Mitchel Crite and Mac Crite and six great grandchildren, Evan, Cameron, Max, Elizabeth, Katheryn and Kingston, sister and brother in law, Linda and Gary Creason, Kokomo, and sister in law, Lennie and her husband Bill Russell of Kokomo and several nieces and nephews. Dick is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Julia Ann, brother, John D. Cohee and sister, Virginia Mae Peterson.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, September 6, 2019 at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Rev. Ken Spangler officiating. Burial will follow in Center UB Cemetery north of Young America. Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday, September 5th at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.
