Robert Walker Obituary

Robert J. Walker, 89, of Galveston, passed away at 9:40 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2023, at his home.   He was born November 19, 1933, in Howard County to Granville and Thelma (Stiers) Walker.   He married the love of his life, Donna Rose Bone on February 26, 1954, in Marion, Indiana and she survives.

 

Bob graduated from Galveston High School in 1951.  He retired from Cuneo Press in Kokomo with 28 years as an ink estimator.  He later worked for Kokomo Neurological as an EEG Technician. Bob was very active in the Galveston community. He was a volunteer fireman with the Galveston volunteer fire department for many years and served as deputy marshal for the town of Galveston. Bob also worked as an EMT for Logansport Memorial Hospital and later as a transporter for St. Joseph Hospital in Kokomo.  He served his country in the Indiana National Guard for twelve years.  Bob enjoyed camping, fishing, trail riding, watching I.U. basketball and playing softball.  He was a member of the Salamonie Trail Riders Association and a founding member of the Lewis Cass Band Boosters Association for Lewis Cass High School in Walton.  Bob and Donna are former members of the Galveston United Methodist Church.

 

Surviving family include his wife Donna of 69 years; his children, Susan Walker of Indianapolis and Karen (Brian) Stavroff of Galveston.  Surviving grandchildren include Megan (David) Hawes of Greenwood, and Kristen (Daniel) Hartman of Galveston. He is also survived by two great granddaughters, Makenna Grace Hartman and Aleyna Rose Hartman, one step grandson, Jake Stavroff, brother-in-law, Raymond Bevington of Kokomo, nephew, Mark Bevington of Kokomo, niece, Linda “Kami” (Paul) Moldenhauer of Kokomo, and a dear friend, Susan Edwards of Indianapolis.   Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his inlaws, Manson “Jake” and Dolores “Dodie” Jacoby, granddaughter, Holly Lynn Johnson, sister, Nancy Bevington and brother-in-law, Glen Allen Bone.

 

Visitation will be held from 2 – 5 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.  In keeping with Bob’s wishes no services will be held.   The family would like to request that memorial donations be made to the Galveston Volunteer Fire Department in Bob’s memory.    Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston has been entrusted with arrangements. www.murrayweaverfuneralhome.com
