Sara Riggs Obituary

Sara M. Riggs, 98, passed into the arms of our Lord Thursday morning October 17, 2019. She was born to Clarence and Lela Miner on February 25,1921. She was a graduate of Windfall High School class of 1939 and of Indiana Business College Fort Wayne, IN.

During the war years Sara worked in the office of  Delco Remy in Anderson. Later she worked for Solar Shell, in Kokomo, where friends introduced her to her future husband, J.B. Riggs. Sara and J.B. were married June 17, 1951.

Sara was an active member of Galveston United Methodist Church and its women’s group. She also was a member of the Jackson Township Home Ec. Club.

Sara loved to travel. In 1958 the family bought a 1939 International school bus, the bus Sara rode in her senior year of High School, and converted it into a motor-home.  “Alice in Wonderland” took JB and Sara (with family) to every state capital, except Hawaii, and every provincial capital of Canada – more than 250,000 miles.

Surviving Sara are her children Susan Rust, Windfall; Tom (Marsha), Galveston;  Bob (Misty), Alabaster, Alabama; a niece Tammy Landis and nephew John Miner. Sara was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers John and Jimmy, a nephew Jerry Miner, her husband John B. and son-in-law Ricky Rust.
