Sara M. Riggs, 98, passed into the arms of our Lord Thursday morning October 17, 2019. She was born to Clarence and Lela Miner on February 25,1921. She was a graduate of Windfall High School class of 1939 and of Indiana Business College Fort Wayne, IN.
During the war years Sara worked in the office of Delco Remy in Anderson. Later she worked for Solar Shell, in Kokomo, where friends introduced her to her future husband, J.B. Riggs. Sara and J.B. were married June 17, 1951.
Sara was an active member of Galveston United Methodist Church and its women’s group. She also was a member of the Jackson Township Home Ec. Club.
Sara loved to travel. In 1958 the family bought a 1939 International school bus, the bus Sara rode in her senior year of High School, and converted it into a motor-home. “Alice in Wonderland” took JB and Sara (with family) to every state capital, except Hawaii, and every provincial capital of Canada – more than 250,000 miles.
Surviving Sara are her children Susan Rust, Windfall; Tom (Marsha), Galveston; Bob (Misty), Alabaster, Alabama; a niece Tammy Landis and nephew John Miner. Sara was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers John and Jimmy, a nephew Jerry Miner, her husband John B. and son-in-law Ricky Rust.

Services will be at the Galveston United Methodist Church 515 S. Maple St. The funeral for Sara will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 22,. Pastor David Duke will be officiating. Graveside services will be held at Galveston Cemetery following the funeral service. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, October 21,,and, one hour before the service on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Galveston United Methodist Church memorial fund, PO Box 639, Galveston, Indiana 46932.
