Sharon J. Long, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2022, at Waterford Place Health Campus in Kokomo. She was born March 10, 1939, in Kokomo to Orlo B. and Beulah Hester (Saul) Sapp. She married James Long on November 2, 1957, in Kokomo and he survives.
Sharon started working when she was in high school at Kingston Products in Kokomo and later at a local drug store. After she and Jim married, she helped on the farm, planting and harvesting right alongside of her husband. She enjoyed ceramics, especially painting on china. She also enjoyed oil painting and was a wonderful cook.
Surviving family include her husband, Jim Long of Kokomo; her daughters, Jennifer (Kevin) Miller, Kokomo and Janelle R. Overton of Kokomo. Surviving grandchildren include, Mitchel Overton, Indianapolis; Jacob (Zara) Brown, Kokomo; Katie (Collin) Gray, Kokomo; Scott (Ashley) Overton, Kokomo; Matt (Meagan) Miller, Bargersville; and Emily Miller of Kokomo. She is also survived by great grandchildren, Fletcher Brown, Keegan Overton, Braxton Miller and Wyatt Miller. She is survived by brothers, Paul (Peggy) Sapp, Kokomo, and David Sapp in Indianapolis. Several nieces and nephews also survive her. She is preceded in death by her parents, one uncle Clare Saul, and two son-in-laws, Gary Brown and Terry Overton.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2022, at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery. Sharon’s family would like to extend a “Special Thank You” to Chris and Bill Collins, Nurse Lindsey with Premier Hospice and Nurses Jonie, Tony and Sarah at Waterford Place Health Campus.
