Thyra J. Daggett, 89, of Galveston, passed away at 7:59 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2021, at her home. She was born March 23, 1932, in Chicago, IL to Robert and Anna (Aronowski) Mitten. She married Don R. Daggett on November 21, 1952, and he preceded her in death July 31, 1989.
Thyra was a homemaker and cook for Galveston Elementary school for many years. Her family meant everything to her.
Surviving family include her children, Kurt A. (Gail) Daggett, Kokomo; Robert R. “Bob” Daggett, Galveston; Tom (Karen) Daggett, Kokomo; and Kimberly A. (Dr. Keith) Ennis, Kokomo. Surviving grandchildren include, April (Aaron) Cook, Amber Rogers, Kirsten (Justin) Worley, Karsen (Wes Cyphers) Ennis, Kyle (Makenna Good) Ennis, Brian Daggett, Kelly (Dan Cornell) Brown, Andy (Ashley) Mulis, Andrew (Taylor) Daggett and Sarah (Ian) Watson. Sixteen great grandchildren also survive her. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Don R. Daggett, and siblings, Robert Mitten, Dolly (Joe) Wininger, and Roberta (Bud) Cox.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to caregivers, Stacie Ally and Sheila Shoemaker for their excellent care of Thyra and also Heartland Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Sean Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Galveston Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. Monday, December 20th at the funeral home.
