Torrence Horn Obituary

Torrence Horn, 81, of Walton, passed away at 4:10 p.m. Sunday, May 14, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo.  He was born August 19, 1941, in Belmont, North Carolina to Luther Horne and Nannie Elizabeth Glenn Horne.  He married Sarah I. Harness Erny on August 8, 1981, and she survives.

Terry proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1961 – 1965.  After serving in the Air Force, he went to work for Chrysler Kokomo Transmission Plant and retired in 2008 with 42 ½ years’ service.  He enjoyed coaching little league and quarter midget racing in his younger years.   He was an avid North Carolina Tar Heels fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Chicago Bears.  He was a member of the UAW local #685 in Kokomo.

Surviving family include his wife Sarah Harness Erny Horn of Walton; his children, Tim (Michelle) Erny of Galveston; Beth Horn of Linz, Austria; and Terrence Andrew (Meggan) Horn of Lafayette.  Surviving grandchildren include Maxwell, Bennett and Charlotte Horn and Ricky and Kegan Byrd.  Surviving great grandchildren are Keylie, Elizabeth, Madalynn and Wyatt Byrd.  Surviving siblings include, Elsie Williamson of Gastonia, N.C.; Barbara Horn of Mt. Holly, N.C.; and Cheryl (Steve) Caskey of Ft. Mill, S.C.  Terry is also survived by his father-in-law, Wayne Harness, Walton, IN and brothers and sisters in law, Bill (Cathy) Harness, Galveston, IN, and Nancy (Roger) Black, Logansport, IN.  He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and a host of special friends.  Terry is preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, 6 brothers, and mother-in-law.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 22, 2023, at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Pastor Deke Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in the Galveston Cemetery.  Visitation will be held Sunday, May 21st from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
