Virginia L. Billings, 95, of Kokomo, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Bloom of Kokomo.
Virginia was born in Kokomo, IN to Claude and Ethel (Markley) Miller on October 27, 1929. She was a 1948 graduate of Kokomo High School.
While in Indiana she was an active member of the Galveston First Baptist Church, the Baptist Association, and the State Women’s Mission Society. She also was employed by Indiana Bell Telephone Company and Galveston Variety Store.
Virginia moved to Harlingen, Texas in October 1979. She married EJ Billings on October 1, 1981. She once again became active in the First Baptist Church Combes, and Calvary Baptist Church Harlingen, and the Women’s Missionary Union.
She was a 30-year volunteer of the H.O.S.T.S. program in the elementary schools and the Stone Craft Christian Women’s Club, Women’s Connection. Virginia’s greatest love was working with children and singing to the Lord.
Virginia moved back to Galveston, Indiana in April 2018.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law Mary Johnson of Walton, IN; stepsons Gary Billings of Harlingen, TX and Dennis Billings of League City, TX; Grandsons Tim (Melissa) Johnson of Logansport, Zachary (Laura) Johnson of Deedsville, and Joshua (Abrah) Johnson of Walton; Step-grandsons Andy (Jill) Pagel of Calvert City, KY, Dusty (Angie) Pagel of League City, TX, and Terry (Meg) Pagel of Paducah, KY; Step-granddaughters Lauren Watts, Natalie (Jason) Clements, and Abby (Micah) Newsom all of Texas; 8 great-grandsons Brady, Tyler, Parker, Ethan, Reid, Riley, Myles, and Emrey; 5 step-great-grandchildren Hadley, Janie, Alex, Olivia, and Zoe; brother Robert W. Miller of Jupiter, FL as well as 5 nieces and 2 nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband EJ Billings of Harlingen, TX, son Joe Johnson of Walton, IN, two infant sons Howard and Victor, sister Betty Minor of OR, brother Floyd Miller of Albuquerque, NM, and step-daughter Gayle Phillips of Harlingen, TX.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 26th, 2025, in Galveston Cemetery with Pastor Sean Cooper officiating.
No Visitation is scheduled.
