David Young Sr., 84 of Galveston, went home to be with the Lord at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017 at his home in Galveston.  He was born September 12, 1932 in Kokomo to Omer and Madge H. (Anthony) Young.    He married Patty Smith December 23, 1950 in Kokomo and she survives.   David worked for Galveston Schools, Fred Goodier Gravel, Continental Steel, B&D Appliances and the Town of Galveston.     He enjoyed horse back riding and was a member of the Salamonie Trail Riders and the Diamond X Trail Riders.  He was also a member of Center Road Church of Christ.   His family is what he treasured the most.

Surviving family include his wife Patty Young of Galveston; children, David (Dee) Young, Galveston; Linda Wecht, Galveston and Bill (Kathy) Young of Monticello.  Surviving grandchildren include Jennifer (Elijah) Allison; Brad (Kendra) Young, Lee Young (Matt Reynolds); Matt (Lauren) Young,  Mark Young and grand daughter in-law, Randi Wecht.  Thirteen great grandchildren include, Casie, Hailey, Jace, Charles, Garrett, Caroline, Caleb, Keyerstyn, Conner, Clark, Carson, Carter and Gavin and also one great great granddaughter is on the way. One brother also survives, Dan (Vi) Young of Kokomo.  Several nieces, nephews, cousins, special friends Bob and Sue Fording and his beloved dog Twiggy, also survive him.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Charlie Wecht , grandson Perry Wecht, brother Omer Young Jr. and sister Joy Montgomery.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 17th at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston with Lynn Brust officiating.  Burial will follow at Galveston Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. Monday at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.
