My brothers and sisters and I were very sad to learn of our Aunt Maybelle's passing on March 19, 2017. I am grateful to Vern and Dixie Keller for sending me her obituary and memory card from the memorial service.

I had given up on phone calls to Aunt Maybelle the last few years, because of hearing challenges, but I always tried to remember her at Christmas and Easter. Our family knew her brother Wayne first because he was married to our Aunt Bernice. I loved to hear him play guitar and fill a room with music and laughter. Aunt Maybelle had a love of laughter, too. We were so happy for her and our bachelor Uncle Bob when they decided to get married in 1971.

When our family hosted a wedding shower for them, I remember how much in love Maybelle and Bob seemed and what a joyful transformation that love had made in them both! I wish they had had more time together, yet it seemed that their love never lost its beauty or vibrance.

My Aunt Maybelle and I both loved teaching English and we both loved sewing. She especially enjoyed attending her church quilting group and bringing Uncle Bob along, too. I know I'll be thinking of her when I take on the next word puzzle or eye a pretty scrap of calico.

Peace and Love, Auntie Maybelle.
Faye

If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
even there Thy hand shall lead me
and Thy right hand shall hold me.
